No title - expert review Ten 17th- and 18th-century houses have been folded into this hotel on the Herengracht near the Spui square, whose Friday book market might explain the Ambassade's popularity with book-world people: Doris Lessing, John Le Carré, Umberto Eco, and Salman Rushdie are regulars, and novelist Howard... fodors.com
No title - expert review Perhaps more than any other hotel in Amsterdam, this one, in ten 17th- and 18th-century canal houses on the Herengracht and Singel canals, re-creates the feeling of living in an elegant canal house. The pastel-toned rooms are individually styled and their size and shape vary according to the charact... frommers.com
No title - expert review The Ambassade is a most attractive hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. Originally 10 separate houses, each the home of a wealthy merchant on the Herengracht ( the Gentlemen s Canal , the hotel has been converted into one building which retains all the erstwhile interior architecture and the external fa... johansens.com
No title - expert review No designer had a hand in creating the unique ambience of the Ambassade Hotel. It just grew, from one 17th century canalside merchant home in 1953 to ten, with a combined tally of 59 delightfully different, eccentric, endearing rooms and suites. Antique furniture, clocks, and paintings embellish the... sidestep.com
Amazing in Amsterdam - user review Based on the recommendations here, stayed at the Ambassade for 2 nights on a recent business trip. The location could not be better. My top floor, canal view room was the oasis in an otherwise hectic visit. It was quite small, but the bathroom (with two sinks) was as modern as a Four Seasons. One of... fodors.com

Nice Location/ Poor Room - user review The hotel is perfectly situated and the common areas are very nice. However, my room left something to be desired. The bed was lumpy and the mattress must have been over thirty years old. I was put in the basement and asked to be moved, but this was not possible. I probably would not stay here again... fodors.com

Excellent place to stay in Amsterdam - user review This is one of the best all around values for the money (I booked through bookings.nl). While I read of the concerns about the size of some of the rooms, this is a problem anywhere in Europe. I ended up staying here for over 3 weeks on business and was put in rooms 83 and 25, both overlooking the ca... fodors.com
