No title - expert review This popular youth hostel gives families and young travelers bare-bones rooms at rock-bottom prices. Kitchen access, washers and dryers, videos, two fireplaces, a convenience store, and self-service suppers add to the lively, collegiate party atmosphere. The English-speaking staff can help find the ... fodors.com
No title - user review Balmer's is such a fun hostel. The people couldn't be friendlier and the atmosphere is really great. They have more fun stuff to do there than I have seen at any other hostel. It is very American but so am I, and I thought it was great. It's a great place to go for fun mountain excursions through th... hostelz.com
No title - user review Balmer's was a great way to meet people especially as a single traveller. There are many activities to do, even if you aren't looking to spend a lot of money. Interlaken as a city is quite touristy not much to see. I didn't party, but that was okay, I managed to get some sleep for all the beautiful ... hostelz.com
No title - user review I stayed at Balmers in the summer of 1988 and still think about the good times I had. Would I be writing about it at 9:50 on a Thursday night in Connecticut if it weren't fantastic Katrina, Eric, and their kids opened their arms to visitors from all nations. I can only say to those passing through I... hostelz.com
No title - user review I stayed in this hostel for three nights in September 2005. I'm not really a party person, so I worried about how I would deal with a frat house hostel, but it ended up being great. I went to the club the first day and it's alright, but the great thing is that because Swiss law says you have to be q... hostelz.com
No title - user review It is fun for about three days. There is this one room that holds like thirty five people on three levels of bunk beds. Some of the trips they offer are really fun but others are a rip off. The only thing that sucks is the lock out for a good portion of the day. There was a good balance of guys and ... hostelz.com
No title - user review Listen, for all those who are travelling and looking for five star hotel staysokay, this is not the place to go. But I will tell you one thing (actually a couple of things). When I decided to backpack through Europe I knew I was not going to get home bedding and sleeping accommodations! Yes, the bed... hostelz.com
No title - user review Not bad but not fantastic either. I stayed here because I heard it had a good atmosphere. Being a lone traveler looking to meet people, I thought this would be ideal. Unfortunately it has one major flaw at least 90% of the guests were American. Not that I have anything against them but I found these... hostelz.com
No title - user review Stayed at this hostel April 9th to 11th 2007, very nice place, but like all of Interlaken a bit to expensive for the budget traveler. Internet was 5 Swiss Franc for thirty minutes, but if you go right next door there is a cafe that is 6 Swiss Franc for an hour, or just 1 Franc per ten minutes. Balme... hostelz.com
No title - user review Sucked. The people, food, location, and the deals all were so bad. They promise a lot and deliver almost nothing. The bar is cool only because they are too far fr... hostelz.com
No title - user review This hostel is great. They have a back patio with ping pong, barbecues and a bar. The kitchen and dining room had countless movies and books for all. The club below is very convenient considering Interlaken is known for its activities, not nightlife. But lots of people in the hostel did want to hit ... hostelz.com
No title - user review This is a great place to meet other travelers. It has a great atmosphere. There is a lockout for dorm rooms though, from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. There's a good kitchen, however you have to pay to use the stove, and they are low on cooking supplies and dishes. I would go here again; however I would tr... hostelz.com
No title - user review This is the best hostel we stayed in during our trip! It had an excellent staff that was very helpful, comfortable beds and bathrooms that were fine. Good breakfast and a great atmosphere, with lots of couches and access to books, movies, a kitchen, happy hour and a cool underground bar. They will a... hostelz.com
No title - user review This place is a summer camp for 18 21 year old Americans. Switzerland is really expensive, and the prices here for everything, from laundry to excursions, reflect that. Watch out for canyoning, the sales guy really downplayed the danger, and people were getting hurt daily. Not the way you want to en... hostelz.com
No title - user review This was probably one of the best hostels I stayed in while backpacking through Europe. I thought the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The people were all very cool and it was a great experience to meet new people and try awesome sports. Sure, the beds aren't the best, but if you want qua... hostelz.com
No title - user review We were in Interlaken on our way through to Amsterdam so we only got to stay at Balmer's for one night. I have a feeling that if we had been there longer and had been able to participate more in the activities that the hostel offered we would have had more fun. As it was the hostel was ok, average b... hostelz.com
