Brtonigla is a village of 730 inhabitants on the road from Buje to Novigrad. It is an old settlement, first mentioned as a parish in the year 1500, and is well-known for its valuable St. Zenon's church built in 1861.

It has of lately became known beyond Croatian borders as the seat of the embassy of local European self-government. Auto camp "Ladin gaj" and the House of the Italian Union are located here. This region is rich in vineyards and wine-cellars.
