Cours Julien is the quarter that lies southeast of La Canebière and is one of the more pleasant places to visit in Marseille. The quarter is very bohemian-arts and populated by many diverse immigrants and ethnicities. At the center of Cours Julien is its square where you’ll find pools, fountains, sidewalk cafés, restaurants, and boutique stores. Northeast of Cours Julien, you’ll find Place Jean-Jaurès or “La Pleine” as it is endearingly referred to by locals. This square has a daily market set up on Saturdays.
