| The university town really has a lot to offer for young people. There's a lot of concert events and not to mention, there's a lot of affordable places to stay, even if you don't stay at a youth hostel (I believe the one youth hostel I heard about was actually on the other side of the rail lines away from the city... not very convenient I guess). Generally the hotels and guest houses that utilize the top floors of cafes are a good bet. Good rooms, reasonable prices and usually their included breakfasts are pretty good as well. Leuven has a curious fact to follow up with it. Its French part was actually forced to move out due to Walloon - Flemish conflicts and clashes and now there's a place called Louvain La Neuve. Do not make the fatal mistake of going there while intending to go to Leuven. Sometimes in old maps and such Leuven is spelt Louvain and this can cause quite some confusion. |
