I arrived at the Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves expecting to have a great time with my 3 friends, 2 male, and 1 female, all 21 years of age. We made our way through about 4 caves and i noticed a lady following us watching every move we were doing and making the expierience very uncomfortable. As our group made its way through a cave named The Center of the Earth, we came to the exit. Keep in mind when we bought our tickets we recieved NO safety briefing and no rules or advisories. At the end of the cave there was a Tiny exit to the right and to the left there was a slanted rock that lead up to a large exit. I decided i wanted to see what the left exit lead to so i moved onto the rock and started to move up it. All of a sudden I hear GET DOWN AND LEAVE! I couldnt see anyone so I looked back into the cave and said " Is someone in here?" In return the lady screamed back YES AND YOU NEED TO GET DOWN AND LEAVE NOW! Listening to her I got right down from the rock and went out the other exit were she greeted me on the other side still yelling at me. I calmly said " Im really sorry we thought that was an exit this is our first time here" and she replied that we needed to get out before she had us arrested. we kindly asked for a second chance and got yelled at even more. 1 of my friends was farther ahead in the trail so she ran ahead and went into the cave, got right in his face and started screaming when he was talking at a normal tone asking what he did wrong as he was clueless that we were being kicked out. I was completely appauled by what she was doing so i took out my phone and video taped her yelling in his face so i could show everyone how rediculous she was acting.Although i havent quite figured out how to upload it to youtube or any other video service on the internet. We all left silently and calmly from the trail and insisted to talk to the manager. We ended up not getting to talk to the manager face to face but over the phone. I picked up the phone and said hello this is so and so and before I could say another word the manager of the place threatened me saying we needed to leave before we were all arrested. I asked several times if I could explain what happened and she refused to hear my side. After seeing no advance talking to her we stopped talking and my friends and I picked up our stuff and left calmly but were followed out by employees because apparently we couldnt be trusted. This is a shout out to all young adults 16-25, I would not recommend this place to go to enjoy the day because there is EXTREME stereotype use against young adults and you will be followed and most likely kicked out if you step the wrong way. I felt embarrassed to be removed from a family hiking area and I will never step foot in there again. Theres much better hiking areas in north woodstock and the White mountain region that are free. |
