Lubarda Travel Guide

Lubarda is a tourist place with a population of 1100 at an elevation of 2 m and a peer on the island of Korcula. The vineyards of the area produce the famous wines "Grk" and others. "Grk" got its name for its bitter taste. This is the birth place of two sculptors Frano Krsinic and Ivan Lozica.

Some evidence of the founding of the place and assigning the land to the Greek lllyric colonists dating from the year 400 BC approximately still exists. This is the oldest monument written in stone in the area of Croatia. A cast of this monument is kept in a museum in Korcula, and the original is stored in the arhaelogical museum in Zagreb. The private collection of works in stone by Ivan Jurkovic may be one of the things worth seeing. The local church dates from the 16th Century.
