Pican is a village with 316 inhabitants on the road from Plomin to Pazin. This old town, where Pican's Episcopal once had its seat, has plenty medieval monuments. The 5th century diocese was revoked in 1788. The Romans knew it by the name of Petina. Ramparts were erected in the Middle Ages. The old Cathedral of the Announcement of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1753, has recently been renovated. The cemetery chapel contains wall paintings from the 15th century. The Pican area is rich in coal. There is a coal-mine in Podpican.
