This place originally opened as a Round Table Pizza in approximately 1983. Some time later, it changed its name to "Round Valley Pizza." The Springerville/Eager area has long been known as "Round Valley," so the name made sense. The pizza recipe remained nearly identical to that of Round Table Pizza, which in my opinion at least, makes for pretty good pizza. Unfortunately, during my familiy's last visit to the area in 2010, the ownership as well as the name had changed (and I can't remember the new name.) The quality of food was way down. The pizza we got was a great disappointment, probably best described as a sort of "McPizza" one might find in any one of ten-thousand joints across the country that turn out a doughy mess with a bit of cheese, stale tomato sauce and microscopic amounts of toppings. As I said, I'm unsure of the present name of this place, but it is located in the same shopping center as Safeway on the main drag through Springerville/Eager. If someone returns this place to the same quality little place it was as Round Valley Pizza, I will happily recant all that I have said here. Until then, I would avoid it like the plague. |
