Sarengrad is a place with a population of 1000 situated on the road from llok to Sotin. A Franciscan monastery was built here in the 15C by the Ma-cvan viceroy Ivan Macvanski. The ruins of the old citadel are also located here.
On the Banovo locality near the Dunav the traces of a settlement dating from the late Stone Ages. The loveliness of this area and of the Dunav beaches make Sarengrad an extremely popular excursion destination.
The Franciscan monastery holds a collection of sacral artwork and has a portrait gallery of the Popes. It also has an ethnographic collection. A citadel built on a hill consists of colorful stones which gave this place its name. The lovely woods of Vocin are located in the vicinity of Sarengrad. On the road leading from Sarengrad to Bapsko the attractive fort and a catering facility "Dunavka pejsaz" can be seen.
