Smiljan Travel Guide

Smiljan is a village with 550 inhabitants, situated 7 km from Gospic. It is a common name for a few hamlets which extend over a few kilometers around the Smiljan filed. On the intersection in the middle of the field the cultural centre Nikola Tesla was built; there is also the birthplace of this great and well-known inventor. There are also some of his exhibits. The parochial church of Sv. Gospa Karmelska was built in 1864. In the surrounding area there are the ruins of Krcmar and Smiljan.
