Tugare is a village with a population of 770 situated on the road from Omis to Postrana via Zakucac. This old settlement is first mentioned as a parish in 1852 in a document which confirms that it has been donated by viceroy Trpimir. The parish church of the Labour of Mary was built in 1734. A church stood here in the year 1669 and the church of St Caterine is first mentioned in 1397.
In the period of the Poljice Republic the council held its meetings here and elected the dukes. There is a shop and an inn here. In this rocky area above Omis the nearby village of Gata with a population of 600 at an elevation of 284 m is settled. The village is first mentioned as a parish in the 14th century. The church of St Ciprian was built in 1620. Gata used to be the seat of the formed Poljice vicary and the central place of the Poljice county. The councils of the dukes of Poljice regularly were held here. All the villages of this area were heavily damaged in the World War II.
