Umag is a town of 4,850 inhabitants at the altitude of 2 meters above sea-level, situated on the northwest coast of Istria, the seat of numerous companies and the location of many tourist object including a number of hotels and camps.
With its narrow, winding, picturesque streets it still reminds us of medieval times, of which Umag is a typical representative. Parts of medieval city ramparts are still preserved. This old town was first mentioned as a parish in the year 1000. The parish church of St. Pelegrin was built in 1760.
