West Hollywood Travel Guide

West Hollywood is actually a separate city from Los Angeles, located between Beverly Hills and La Brea Avenue. It was long the vice capital of LA, home to gambling, drugs, and prostitution. When it was incorporated as a city in 1984, a clean up effort was undertaken to improve West Hollywood and its debauched Sunset Strip. Today, West Hollywood is one of the more up-and-coming regions of Los Angeles County, noted for its freewheeling clubs and bars. Its progressive character and attitudes make it more resembling of Hollywood than its other neighbor, the posh Beverly Hills. In recent years, an especially noticeable wave of Armenian and Russian immigrants have made Hollywood their home, which has at times caused friction with the city’s longtime residents.[1]

West Hollywood’s principal tourist attraction is Sunset Strip, the city’s heart and the location of all the nightlife and billboards. Many of the other attractions can also be found around the Pacific Design Center and La Cienega Boulevard area.[2]
