Zaostrog is a place with a population of 270 situated on the Adriatic freeway 16 km from the Ploce harbor.
The surrounding forests, olive trees and the sandy beaches determined this place as an ideal tourist destination. The Franciscan monastery from the 16C with busts of Andrija Kacic-Miosic and Ivan Despot by Ivan Rendic is located on the coast. The monastery has a rich library and an old archive, an ethnographic collection and an antique garden with more than 250 species of various plants from all over the world. The antique mosaic in the church of St Barbara is well preserved. The place has several pleasant shops, inns, sport centre.
