| This is an interesting German founded settlement that easily maintains its small town feel with its beautiful Main St. and bed and breakfasts sprinkled around the area. I occasionally make the small drive from San Antonio to relax in the bier gartens and eat the amazing German and Bavarian food that Fredericksburg is known for. In town and just outside sit excellent vineyards for wine tasting. Becker Vineyards near Luckenbach, for example, is definitely worth the stop. Just north of the town is Enchanted Rock, a Native American outlook that rises above 1800 ft. There is a killer view from the top, the caves go deep into the rock, and camp sites near the base are perfect for one nighters. This is a definite Texas destination for visitors. |
